OSAN / Overview
A specific installation within a major rail crossing.
OSAN undertook rail laying on the railway section of the Kerch Strait Bridge project in 2019. The OSAN budget associated with that rail-laying scope is USD 98 million.
The contribution is defined by the physical laying of rails. The wider bridge structures, road crossing, signalling and electrification are separate disciplines and are not included in the scope recorded for OSAN.
Budget refers to the work attributed to OSAN and is separate from the overall project investment.

Our scope
ENGINEERING IN FOCUS
Rail, layer by layer.
Alignment and geometry
A route is a connected geometric system. Its line, levels and supporting structure establish the context for installation. In rail work, the relationship between the rail, its support and the adjacent sections gives continuity to the constructed route.

Layers and support
Infrastructure is understood through the interaction of its layers. The visible surface or installed element depends on the supporting construction beneath it. Their junctions and transitions are as important to the reading of the system as each layer itself.
Construction boundaries
Civil work connects different packages at defined boundaries. Building infrastructure, a playing surface and a railway installation each create different coordination questions. A precise scope distinguishes the installation itself from the structures and systems around it.
The project in context
At a glance
The crossing comprises parallel road and rail bridges across the Kerch Strait. The designer’s portfolio describes an overall crossing of approximately 19 kilometres and a construction programme extending from 2015 to 2019. Rail acceptance was announced in December 2019.
